Thought for the Week from Pastor Bruce's Book:
The Power to Advance

    THIS DAY'S BREAD

"Give us this day our daily bread."  - Matthew 6:11

Give us this day. Not tomorrow. Not yesterday¼this day. This is the day that the Lord has made.

We can't change yesterday, and tomorrow is vaguely predictable. Today is our chance. Today we can experience God. Today we can serve others. Today we can live "abundantly."

The Lord's Prayer is instructive. Jesus revealed that we should ask God to give us this day. Unless the Lord gives it (whatever it is), is it worth it? The implication is that we need God’s gift, His grace, and we need to ask for it. Although the prayer specifically mentions food, isn’t it true that whatever we receive is better when it comes directly from God based upon His perfect will?

God wants you to live in the present reality of His blessing. He, Himself, is your daily bread.

POWER QUESTION
What does it take for you to live in the reality of God’s blessing today?

POWER THOUGHT
God, Himself, is my daily bread.

POWER PRAYER
Father, give me this day. For this day only has meaning in light of your purpose. This day cannot be fully realized without you. Father, I invite you into the affairs of my life. Amen.
