“Then this one with human appearance touched me again and strengthened me.” - Daniel 10:19
In Daniel Chapter 10, we find Daniel in a state of deep mourning and prayer, seeking God’s guidance for His people during the third year of Cyrus, king of Persia. For three weeks, he fasts, yearning for understanding amidst the turmoil facing the Jewish exiles. Like Daniel, we need the wellspring of life, understanding, to navigate the times we are in and to be productive in our purpose. Like Daniel, we need personal revival - a touch from heaven and strength - to live victoriously in spite of the challenges of the world. We need strength from God’s touch, again!
Verse 3 reveals that Daniel “did not eat any tasty food”, meat, or wine during his fast. This highlights for us a key to impactful fasting - do not eat for pleasure. When you fast, don't look for creative ways to enjoy the food you eat. Simplify and deny yourself.
I believe God will touch and strengthen you as you yield to Him and join me in a 21-day “Daniel’s Fast” from July 7 through July 27, 2025.
Here is what to do during this fast:
Eat no meat, no tasty food and drink (you decide what is tasty for you)
Read the Bible for a half-hour each day
Pray in the Spirit for a half-hour each day
Listen only to Christian music
Pray for personal revival and purpose-filled productivity (That is, pray that God would touch and strengthen you, and that you increase in doing what He has called you to.)
Embrace this moment with all of your heart and God will touch you and strengthen you.
